I just saw this owl perched on a branch in a tree in my backyard. Wait.. There are two! I am taking my kitty inside in case they are hungry.
Look at what Norman the dog can do!
Wow! What a successful day. We sold $313 of lemonade. The weather was rather warm and students were eager to get a free beaded bracelet. We ran the stand from 2:00 until close to 3:30. We’ll be selling our final batches of lemonade the same time tomorrow afternoon. Thank you to Malcolm’s mom for the beautiful lemon cake pops. The students enjoyed those as well as a cool glass of lemonade for their hard work. We managed to distribute all 85 bracelets! In fact, we sold 15 gallons of lemonade today. Unbelievable! Thank you to Dana’s dad and Will’s mom for lending a helping hand with the booth. We had a mad dash of customers for a while there! If your child did not get to wear a yellow visor to serve the lemonade today, rest assured he/she will be first in line to serve tomorrow. Thank you again, all of you, for your support in this foundation. I’m setting a goal for $500 as the final total to send to Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation.
I think we are ready to run the lemonade stand tomorrow: posters hung, bracelets constructed, and supplies have been counted. We will be serving our lemonade customers starting around 2:15 tomorrow afternoon. Will’s mom, Louisa’s mom and Dana’s dad have offered to assist. I have requested we man the booth again tomorrow night before the PTA meeting . Anyone interested in assisting? Please send me an email at suzruns2@gmail.com if your child can be there tomorrow night.
We have been so busy since last week! End of the quarter tests begin next week, so we have been reviewing all skills in math and reading to ensure success. Please practice subtraction facts to twenty with your child, as we have our subtraction fact test scheduled for next week. I’ve sent home some practice tests or you may wish to use flash cards. I have also posted a subtraction facts interactive games link on our Tumblr page. Your child needs to be speedy! We’ve been practicing this skill using the Fun 4 the brain site but they still could use additional practice.
We’ll be running our lemonade stand at the end of the school day on Thursday and Friday this week to raise funds for pediatric cancer. We are joining other schools across the nation ; united in our cause. Here’s the blog: http://alexslemondrop.blogspot.com/
A 4 year old child who had cancer in 2000 started the vision of Alex’s Lemonade Stand. Read more about the foundation at http://www.alexslemonade.org/. We are blessed to be working for this worthy cause. As you remember, a student in our classroom lost her own mother to cancer this spring. Running a lemonade stand for a cancer has served to heal, educate, and empower my students. I hope this will help inspire them to become active volunteers as the grow into adulthood.
